All Deviations

I have
      not written
poetry to soften the fall,
    caring not for lovers
      breaking a suitor’s
      uncouth hands.

I have not
      written poetry to inspire
       the mob, should
      revolution prove us
       failure again.

I have not written
       poetry to elate the heart
         for it to sink
       once more.

I have not written poetry
      only this: labors
             of a silly idea
that I could confine your stride
             to syntax, your grace
             with grammar, your song
             in unmelodious prose.

Thus, I have given up
          because words will
          not mediate
          your beauty.

          That,
      or I am
   a very lazy man.

To inspire the mob should revolution prove us failure again. heh well your writing could inspire me whether or not that was its purpose.

You're on the popular literature page.

I think it's a step forward.

I think it's beautiful.

its good that you recognize poetry's purpose, through not recognizing it; i believe it adds value you would not other wisely have

i also love the deepness in words like "uncouth" and
"confine"

thank you, this is very good

I love your word choices in this poem as well as the way you set up your lines. Beautiful.
